Join up
We are part of the Ramblers, a national membership organisation and also a charity. You are welcome to come on up to three Ramblers' walks before deciding to join the Ramblers.
When you are ready to join, you can sign up on the Ramblers website. if you select Derbyshire as your area and Derbyshire Dales as your group, then you will receive our four-monthly programme and also news on our walks, activities and updates directly from us.
Information for Members
If you are a member and want to change any of your membership details you can do that online by logging into your Ramblers Account or by contacting Ramblers directly. If you are a member of another Ramblers group, you can ask to be an affiliate member of Derbyshire Dales Ramblers and will receive all our information directly; you will need to contact Ramblers directly to do this.
We are run completely by volunteers. There are lots of ways to get involved, so if you would like to lead a walk, join the committee or check footpaths, we'd love to hear from you! Contact us. If you have any suggestions, let us know. Committee members regularly go on walks and welcome new ideas from members.
For each walking group there is a walks collector who coordinates the walks programme for that day. They will also send round news on any last minute changes to walks to the regular members of that group.
Walk Leaders
It is thanks to our dedicated volunteer walk leaders that we are able to offer a wide range of walks each week. New walk leaders are always welcome! If you are interested in leading a walk, please contact a walks collector (contact details are in our printed programme). If you are not already a walks leader registered with the Ramblers, you will need to undertake the national Ramblers online training which takes about two hours. No test is necessary.
All walk leaders are encouraged to look at the Ramblers website for Resources for Walk Leaders which includes the Walk Leader Handbook, online training modules and guidance on assessing risks. Walk leaders and other volunteers are covered by liability insurance.
We ask all walkers to carry an In Case of Emergency (ICE) card, so there is no need for walk leaders to take a register. ICE Card
If you would prefer to restrict the number of walkers on your walk, please ask the walks collector for your walk to be "bookable" and then take bookings, on a first come first served basis, up to your preferred limit.
If there are any incidents on your walk, please contact your walks collector as soon as possible, who in turn will contact the membership secretary. If appropriate, an incident report form will be completed and submitted to Ramblers Central Office. Incident Report Form
