Our New Chairman
I joined the Derbyshire Dales Group soon after moving to the area 5 years ago. Along with my wife Pat, I thoroughly enjoy walking with the Group and have led the Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday walks on many occasions. I also enjoy all the Friday Social evenings at the Imperial Rooms where I have presented several of my own slide shows.
My main interest is in the actual walking and so, whilst carrying out the Chairman's duties to the best of my abilities, I will try to keep all the relevant meetings, paperwork and any other tasks to a minimum. Some of the Chairman's duties (e.g., Area Council meetings) have been delegated to other members and certain other duties have been changed or omitted. I am grateful to Frank Ogden for continuing to attend the meetings of the Stanage Forum and the NT Advisory Committee. I wish Frank all the best in his 'retirement' and hope he continues to enjoy his rambling with us all for many years to come.

Chairman Derbyshire Dales Group
My Final Ramblings.
By the time you read this you will have a new Chairman so these are my final ramblings. Since I joined The Ramblers nineteen years ago at a time of personal difficulty and later grief I have received so much support and then pleasure from my membership of the group.
I hope I have managed to give something back and I certainly made many good friends – some, alas, no longer with us. However I am not leaving the group altogether and still expect to walk, occasionally lead and to render my services where appropriate. I would like to thank all those who have served on the committee with me and to wish your new Chairman in particular, and the rest of you in general, a happy future with plenty of good walking.
